Brown rice, also known as wholegrain rice, is the same as white rice but the bran and germ of the grain are not removed. This leaves the rice being more nutritious, higher in fibre along with a stronger and nuttier taste than white rice.

The key to cooking perfect brown rice? Use double the amount of water to rice, leave to simmer for 30-35 minutes uncovered, then cover for the last 5-10 minutes to allow the rice to absorb the water off the heat.
